Move forward with full force As life is uncertain and the body clock never stops ticking
To do for the benefit of others means one does not just following one own’s goal but looking around and doing something that makes life valuable. One must not neglect in doing for others. Focusing on just one’s own benefit is selfishness. Don’t be selfish.
I’d like to recall the Buddha’s last words for you to learn with your firm mind. Even if you have heard before, listen to the words again. Even if you think that you understand, think profoundly to comprehend further. .. “All conditioned things are subject to vanish. May all of you do your duties with no recklessness for the benefit of yourselves and others”
To do for the benefit of yourself means to carry out the duties for the goodness of your life and spiritual mind, not the duties under the control of Kilesa (impurities). The word ‘benefit’ means something that brings good with long-lasting result. Have you really used this body for the genuine benefit or used it to go with the flow of the delusional world without resistance to strive for doing things that lift up your mind?
To do for the benefit of others means one does not just following one own’s goal but looking around and doing something that makes life valuable. One must not neglect in doing for others. Focusing on just one’s own benefit is selfishness. Don’t be selfish. It’s so selfish to exploit other people’s supports and public resources to satisfy one’s own demand. On the other hand, one should share his energy, knowledge and money to support others. One should also show gratitude and cultivate his virtuous acts such as loving-kindness to others. With continued effort in cultivating virtues, one’s mind will be lifted higher.
We can see that people are different in physical look, intelligence and status. That’s because of their past Karma which formulated their original conditions. Some people have never gave charity, some have never shared anything to others, some breached the precepts. All of these are the cause of their original conditions. So, being born as human in this life is the chance for correction. It’s up to ourselves whether we will live the same life in the darkness or be in the brighter side.
Now, for all of you, it’s time to be back to move further. Do your duties with no recklessness for the benefit of yourselves and others, following the Buddha’s last words before his body vanished with no more physical existence any longer.
