Live Wisely

Vipassana Master Acharavadee Wongsakon

“I run out of money.” This may be the feeling of many people.

The situation of Covid-19 crisis is getting worse, making many people feel hopeless.

In fact, no other suffering can discourage people as much as the lack of money.

For those of you who are discouraged, if you have made merit by giving, even on the day that you feel hopeless, the fruit of such giving or merit will support you. And once you are supported, keep your heart stable and keep your money.

For those who are well-prepared, you should be aware of impermanence. Don’t live a careless life. Though the interest of a savings account is just 1%, you must save your money in the savings account because this will develop a good habit and can insure you against any instability in the future.

Even so, please spend some money to help drive the economy and make donation in various ways, not only for the religion. If everyone saved all their money, the country wouldn't be able to move forward. This is the time for the rich to support the country.

For those with little money, they should learn from this hardship that in past lives they lacked faith and refused to make merit at proper times and to the virtuous ones. Therefore, they have to suffer in this lifetime.

In determination to be liberated from suffering, one cannot practice meditation only. But he needs to complete all virtues (parami). Being stingy and refusing to give will lead to a poor rebirth. Then how can one have encouragement to practice meditation? In difficult times when people are suffering, the rich should realize that they don’t have to face hardship like others because of their good deeds from the past. They are considered to be the ones coming from the light and will go into the light. Therefore, one must not be stingy. If one is stingy in this lifetime, he will face miserable hardship like this. In this difficult time, helping the country or those in need will yield higher merit than normal.

This is the time for the rich to support the country. They have to spend, eat, travel, and give.

For those of you who have no money, don’t give up. And for you who have money, be generous. You should make donations widely, not emphasizing only on religious matters. There are many big and small foundations as well as various hospitals that are lacking donors. If you can give, please give.

Being the one who comes from the light means that you will further shine the light on the society.

Therefore, don't be stingy. Don’t just keep your money without supporting others.

Live wisely. And when Dhamma yields fruit, you will receive unexpected results.
