Rules for practitioners in Anapanasati and Techovipassana Meditation Course

1. All practitioners must observe the rule of “silent practice”, that means no speech or communication in any form among them or between them and outside world throughout the course. In case of any question, they may ask the teacher or Dhamma server.

2. From the course of April 2017 onward, all practitioners must wear white meditation clothing, of which fabric must not be too thin. For pants, the length must be lower than knee level and are loose fitting for comfortable sitting. They may also wear shirt / blouse in plain white color with white long pants or white sarong (for ladies). T-shirt is not allowed.

This is for both old and new students to prepare themselves before coming to practice at this sacred place, Techovipassana Meditation Center and to be in front of Master Acharavadee Wongsakon, to learn the teaching, to receive Dhamma power and to be examined on the state of mind during the course.

Wearing white clothes is for practitioners to remind themselves that they come to train their mind in the way of ascetic, not just change the accommodation or come to accumulate merit. Those who are not ready to comply with the rules should stay at home, travel anywhere to relax or go making merit in various places. They should not come here where they have to fight in the battle with Kilesa to end the cycle of rebirth. Techovipassana Meditation Center is not a market place, it is the place to awake the mind and will bring all minds to liberation from karma and slavery of Kilesa in the Samsara.

3. All practitioners are not allowed to bring any book, radio, any communication device such as computer, iPad, smartphone, music player and any kind of valuable item.

4. Mobile phone must be deposited with Dhamma service team throughout the 7 days course. Mobile phone usage is strictly not permitted. In case of any problem, practitioners may ask Dhamma server to help.

5. All practitioners must stay to practice through the entire period of the course and they are not allowed to leave before the course finishes for any reason. The only exceptional case is for those who fall sick and need urgent medical care.

Other rules

A reminder for practitioners

This vipassana meditation is a stringent practice, which will powerfully purify the mind deep down to subconscious level by igniting the fire element in the body to burn Kilesa. Practitioners will gain great benefits and merit in both this life and next life as the practice can develop strong energy to uproot Kilesa in the mind, leading to the end of cycle of rebirth. They also need to strictly follow the rules and regulations in order to enable them to succeed in the practice. The rule of silent practice or no speech is the key to success because it helps reduce all kinds of emotional seasoning coming to the mind. This practice is not just for people to come hold the precepts, chant the prayers and clean the places. It is the advance meditation practice aiming to end the cycle of suffering that has been trapping the mind for endless lifetime. Therefore, practitioners must have strong determination and make resolute efforts for them to attain Dhamma wisdom.

Mental preparation for practitioners

All practitioners must come to the course with full determination. Any concern and worry should be left behind so the mind will be calm and not confused. They should realize that this is an important opportunity for them to start their journey to the end of suffering. Although this is only an early stage of practice, it will help lift up their power of life and positively affect to their families. Although it is difficult to withdraw from normal duties and worry even for a short period of time, it is a highly valuable deed. It is much worthier than spending everyday of life endlessly revolve in obligations or sadness.
